|Anonymous said: One of the saddest and most hil- NO BITCH, the sad thing here is the fact that you're a stripper. If you want respect, maybe you should've graduated high school. 😂😂 when did stripping become a legitimate career?|
Awww, you tried so hard, but unfortunately I can’t hear you over the sound of my debt-free college degree and massive disposable income.
i would honestly consider something like stripping if i didn’t have the sort of physical issues i have and also if i wasn’t exhausted all the time
i did at one point consider modeling for life drawing classes, and even inquired via email at a couple of places, but nothing ever came of it
As many of you now know, controversial Depression Quest developer Zoe Quinn has recently been outed for cheating on her boyfriend with five other guys, including her married boss Joshua Boggs: creator of FRAMED, Robin Arnott, and even Kotaku Writer Nathon Grayson, who vehemently defended her online and pushed to have her game reviewed favorably.
For those looking for the first-hand account of this by her ex, please read http://thezoepost.wordpress.com/
Apparently, as evidenced by this image in the WordPress blog, Boggs’ wife (at the time of writing) still has no idea about the affair:
However, her infidelity itself is not the problem, I’m afraid: it’s the fact that after several controversial moves including using Robin William’s suicide to market her game and lying about being harassed over Wizardchan, she’s essentially been outed for sleeping with staff of a major gaming news outlet in exchange for favorable press and promotion. Not only does this expose Kotaku’s corruption as a news site, but sets back women in the video game industry by tarnishing her own image and conveying the idea that women can only get anywhere in the gaming industry by lying or sleeping their way up to the top.
Another bad point about this is that she essentially lied about who she is to her fans, her ex, and the press alike. This is a woman who said she had principles about sex - that someone cheating on someone else means the sex with their actual partner IS NOT CONSENSUAL. All while fucking around the Indie dev scene with at least 5 people (3 we know of, 2 speculated). Another Facebook log from the WordPress blog solidifies that point:
Why does she go around making this psuedo-feminist point that “men are stupid and dangerous to be naked around” while using the men of Kotaku to get to where she is today? It’s hypocritical.
I’m disappointed that no major news outlet will cover this story, despite it not being about her personal life, but tackling a much bigger issue: corruption in the video game journalism industry and the indie game development scene. If this spreads, Kotaku will lose all credibility as a news site (as if they hadn’t already) because they’re literally in bed with certain game developers for good reviews. Zoe Quinn does not deserve to be in the indie game dev scene and creates a negative image for all current and future female game devs with her actions. Thanks, Zoe, for enforcing the idea what women can’t get anywhere in the game dev industry unless they fuck journalists for good reviews.
Kotaku never had credibility. Regardless, I’m amazed she’d do this. She’s lost my respect, not just for trading sex for review scores, but for sleeping around on her boyfriend.
This is disgusting. she is inadvertently hurting other women in the industry, not only now, but in the future as well.
This is misogynistic as fuck.
Why are we talking about how she enforced the idea “women can’t get anywhere in the game dev industry unless they fuck journalists for good reviews” instead of how we have had a confirmation that "men can’t be journalist because they value getting laid more than their integrity"?
Why are you all putting her in the frontline instead of the people who are actually allowing themselves to be corrupted by this?
Women shouldn’t be held up to higher standards than men. She wants to fuck around for good reviews? Her fucking choice and her fucking problem. She shouldn’t be acting for all women, just like men do not act for all men. She shouldn’t be allowed to hold power for a whole category. She doesn’t hold power for the whole category.
You are allowing people who want to make a bad example out of her to do it by framing this problem as an issue of a woman being representative for the whole, by turning this into a witch-hunt on which you focus once again the center on the woman’s fault. Why not making bad things about the men for once?
You all seem to have no idea about the structures of powers that might bring a woman to have to sleep with people to reach the top. Not want to sleep with people, but have to.
Men fuck around all the time for success. They “whore” not with their bodies but with other kinds of favors that they have access to by their higher status and positions. They invite people for drinks, they offer them stuff their influential position (to which they have access to because of their gender) allows them to offer… there is not just “not getting anywhere” without fucking, there is also not getting anywhere without money, power, influence.
I am not condoning sleeping around in exchange for stuff, but I’d really really love to see the conversation around this shifted, with the blame for once placed center and front on the men and society instead of the women. Make analysis, talk about this in an intelligent way.
Do not fucking go around yelling at a woman who fucked up, allowing people to blame her for all the faults of a category. She is not the problem.
she really isn’t, and op, how about instead of talking about the “controversial move” of “using robin williams’ suicide to market her game”, how about it gets phrased as “bringing awareness with her game”. so many people all over the world are depressed and sometimes suicidal, even famous people who have families and hundreds of thousands of people who adore them. depression quest is an excellent example of the inner workings of a depressed person’s mind, and while she could use any random nobody’s suicide to bring awareness, it simply won’t have as much effect as when it’s talked about next to the context of a super famous person’s suicide.
but yeah, stop making her the bad person here. if she’s cheating on her boyfriend, that’s her problem, if she’s sleeping with her boss, who cares, if she honestly didn’t know he was married, then he’s the shitface here, for letting it happen and not telling her he was married.
Never forget how Kojima not only designed most of the levels in MGS1 himself but he did it by building them with fucking lego blocks first. A hero
